WHY
HAVE PARISH TEAMS?
The
Church is sent by Christ to the world to proclaim the Gospel. Our Parish
is part of the universal Church, in the local area. As such the Parish
recognises that each Baptised person is called and empowered by the Sacraments
of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist to participate fully in Christ's
mission in our times.
The
existence of a parish team is a concrete expression of the laity living
out their Baptismal call to mission. Following the vision of the Second
Vatican Council it embraces collaboration in ministry as a way of proceeding,
and encourages full participation of individuals and communities. The
Parish Team share leadership with the priest and as lay representatives
are fully part of decision making as the parish community fulfils its
mission. As team the communion aspect of the Church is witnessed in a
visible way.
The
Team shall operate in accordance with the constitution incorporated in
this document.
